GEORGE BALL RECEIVES TIDEWATER COUNCIL'S HIGHEST HONOR

Chesapeake, Va. – Three local Boy Scouts of America (BSA) leaders have received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor bestowed by a local BSA council. First introduced in 1931, the prestigious award recognizes volunteer leaders who have provided distinguished service to youth. The Silver Beaver Award is granted by one’s peers in the local Scouting area. Since 1931, Tidewater Council has presented 500 Silver Beaver Awards.

George G. Ball has served as Tidewater Council’s Vice President of Finance since 2018. The council’s Friends of Scouting annual giving campaign has more than doubled during that time. He was the founding advisor of Venturing Crew 259 in the Western Branch section of Chesapeake and is on the Board of Directors for the MacArthur Memorial Foundation and the Executive Board for the Greater Norfolk Corporation.

The recognition ceremony was held on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Khedive Shrine Center in Chesapeake. Additional honorees were Karen Allgaier and Charles “Chuck” Kelley.
