ANNE BUSSIERE AWARDED BSA'S SILVER BEAVER AWARD

Virginia Beach, Va. –Three local Boy Scouts of America (BSA) leaders have received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor bestowed by a local BSA council. First introduced in 1931, the prestigious award recognizes volunteer leaders who have provided distinguished service to youth.

One honoree, Anne Bussiere of Virginia Beach, has been a stalwart Scouting volunteer since her eldest son became a Tiger Scout in 1997.

Since that time, she has earned a reputation for training youth and their adult leaders. She has been a Day Camp Program Director, a Day Camp Director, and still fills staff roles at Day Camps, Stay Camps, and STEM Camps. She has been a Roundtable Commissioner for years.

She was a two-year leader for the Lion pilot program and is currently serving as an Assistant Cubmaster with Family Pack 374, the first unit to accept girls as the Cub Scouting Early Adopter Pack in Tidewater Council.

Besides her currently registered roles, Anne has volunteered for a decade at the Scout Shop during September and October to assist new Scouts and families with their uniform and Scouting needs, assisting with year-end Scout Shop inventories, and assisting the registrar with recharter paperwork.

The recognition ceremony was held on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at the Khedive Shrine Center in Chesapeake. Additional honorees were John Wayne Abernathy (Chesapeake) and Al Barr (Virginia Beach).
