NRA FOUNDATION AWARDS $26,900 TO TIDEWATER COUNCIL, BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA

Virginia Beach, Va. – The NRA Foundation has awarded Tidewater Council, Boy Scouts of America grants totaling $26,900 to fund youth shooting sports education. “We are very excited to offer the Scouts enhanced shooting sports opportunities,” said Scout Executive James Parnell, “and pleased that the NRA Foundation is making an investment in our community.”

The grant provides new safety gear, targets, ammunition, firearms, and archery supplies. Tidewater Council offers shooting sports and archery as part of its comprehensive character-building Scouting programs. In addition to education and safety training, Scouts enjoy hands-on shooting sports and archery experiences at summer resident camps, day camps, and additional weekend events.

Scouting teaches life lessons centered on character, fitness, citizenship, and leadership development. Through Tidewater Council’s shooting sports and archery programs, youth learn discipline, marksmanship, safe and responsible use of firearms, appreciation of nature and natural resources, sportsmanship, conservation ethics, and, for many, a lifelong avocation.
