CHUCK KELLEY RECEIVES TIDEWATER COUNCIL'S HIGHEST HONOR
Chesapeake, Va. – Three local Boy Scouts of America (BSA) leaders have received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor bestowed by a local BSA council. First introduced in 1931, the prestigious award recognizes volunteer leaders who have provided distinguished service to youth. The Silver Beaver Award is granted by one’s peers in the local Scouting area. Since 1931, Tidewater Council has presented 500 Silver Beaver Awards.
Charles “Chuck” Kelley is an accomplished pack, troop, and district leader with a track record of growing membership and training youth and adults. After years of serving as a unit commissioner, he now is the Three Rivers District Commissioner, serving Scout units in Chesapeake and Portsmouth.
The recognition ceremony was held on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Khedive Shrine Center in Chesapeake. Additional honorees were Karen Allgaier and George Ball.
