Friends of Scouting
Friends of Scouting is Tidewater Council’s annual giving campaign. The Friends of Scouting campaign provides 21% of the council’s annual budget – that means more than a fifth of every dollar in the council budget comes from the generosity of Scouting families, alumni, and community supporters. Without this funding, Tidewater Council could not provide the resources necessary for a quality, adventure-filled Scouting program.
James E. West Fellowship
The James E. West Fellowship Award is a national recognition for individuals who contribute $1,000 or more in cash or securities to their local council endowment fund. This contribution is in addition to, and does not diminish or replace, the donor’s annual gift to the Council’s Friends of Scouting Campaign.
Tribute Fund
Many of our friends, in seeking a way to remember or recognize others, choose to express their thoughtfulness with a tribute. The Tidewater Council has a Scout Tribute Fund wherein you may send your contribution to honor someone on a birthday, special occasion, anniversary, Scouting or personal recognition, or in memory of someone deceased.
Tents for Pipsico Scout Reservation
Sponsor a tent at Pipsico Scout Reservation!
Pipsico Scout Reservation’s current tents have been in service for 30 years. In order to continue to provide a high-quality camping experience for our Scouts, Tidewater Council is replacing 250 tents between 2022-2027.
We will replace the current wooden platforms and ridge pole system tents with new platforms and Diamond Brand tents with aluminum-mounted frames. In addition to housing Scouts and keeping them dry, the new tents will exponentially decrease the time needed for tent setup and takedown.
Planned Giving
Support the mission of Scouting by leaving a bequest in your will, living trust, or with a codicil. Making a gift by bequest allows you to continue to use the property you will leave to charity during your life. Leave a lasting legacy with planned giving.
Gifts in Kind
The council is constantly in need of supplies, materials and other items to conduct the work of Scouting. Examples are long term durable supplies such as equipment and vehicles, services (lawn cutting, cleaning services, etc.), camp supplies to support camp activities for Scouts, consumable office products and gift donations in support of fundraising events.
Good Turn Society
The Good Turn Society of the Boy Scouts of America recognizes generous benefactors who are passionate about preserving the mission, vision, and values of Scouting.
Major Gifts and Scouting
Making a major gift to Tidewater Council is one of the best ways to ensure that the council can continue to offer the outstanding programs it now has and also grow to meet the needs of the youth and communities it serves. Contact James Parnell at james.parnell@scouting.org for more information.
