The National Scout Jamboree is a gathering of thousands of members of the Boy Scouts of America, organized by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Scouting’s next big adventure is on the way, July 19-28, 2023!

Jamboree Patches

On behalf of Tidewater Council and Blue Heron Lodge, there is a unique opportunity for the public to purchase National Jamboree contingent patches. Purchases of these collectible sets will help provide scholarships, tents, gear, and travel expenses for Scouts and leaders attending the 2023 Jamboree.

2023 National Scout Jamboree Tidewater Council contingent patch set

Tidewater Council Jamboree Shoulder Patches (JSP) celebrate the bountiful tidings of the Chesapeake Bay, Albemarle Sound, and Pamlico Sound. The patches highlight the state saltwater fish of North Carolina (the red drum) the state saltwater fish of Virginia (the striped bass), and the blue crabs of Tidewater’s waters. The staff JSP shows the Jefferson scallop, which can be found on the shores of Pipsico Scout Reservation along the James River.

There are two bundles available:

  1. All four Jamboree Shoulder Patches and the center patch for $35 per set
  2. All four Jamboree Shoulder Patches and the center patch, PLUS two OA flaps for $50 per set

Patch orders will be available for pick-up in the Tidewater Council Scout Shop in late June or early July. To request that patch sets be shipped, please change the delivery method from “Pickup at Council Service Center” to “Ship to My Address” at checkout.

Purchasers will be contacted by email when their order is ready for pick-up.

Meet the Adult Contingent Leaders
Steve Bowser

For the past three years, Steve has been the Chartered Organization Representative for Great Bridge Presbyterian Church in Chesapeake with Cub Scout Pack 57 and Scouts BSA Troop 57. He is a lifelong Scout, earning the Arrow of Light and Eagle Scout ranks with Pack 26 and Troop 26 in DuBois, PA. Since 2012, Steve has been affiliated with Tidewater Council, where he has served in numerous roles, including Assistant Den Leader, Den Leader, Assistant Cubmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, as well as various committee positions with Pack 57 and Troop 57. He has attended two National Jamborees: in 1985 as a youth and in 1989 as an Assistant Scoutmaster. In addition to those two Jamborees, he considers a ten-day trek at Philmont Scout Ranch as one of the highlights of his Scouting journey. Having been elected by his peers into the Order of the Arrow as a youth, he is currently an active member of the Blue Heron Lodge. Steve is a retired Navy Civil Engineer Corps Officer and is currently employed as the Defense Program Manager for Gannett Fleming, Inc., a large Architect/Engineering firm headquartered in Camp Hill, PA.

Brandy Schlossberg

Brandy has been a registered Scouter of Tidewater Council since 2006. She is currently serving as the Scoutmaster of female Scouts BSA Troop 1791. Brandy is an active member of the Order of the Arrow’s Blue Heron Lodge and the International Scouting Committee. Over the years, Brandy has served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 1791, committee member for Troop 378, Cubmaster for Pack 350, and a Den Leader at every rank level multiple times, first with her boys in Pack 350 and again with her daughter in Pack 374 when Cub Scouting opened to girls. Brandy was awarded the District Spark Plug award in 2018, Den Leader of the Year in 2019, 2020, and 2021, Cubmaster of the Year in 2006, and the Unit Award of Merit in 2010. She has served on staff for BALOO, Pow-Wow, and as an instructor at University of Scouting. She completed National Camping School training and served as Chowanoc District Day Camp Program Director in 2008. She completed her Wood Badge ticket in 2022 (S7-596-21). Brandy’s Scouting Bucket list includes attending a National Jamboree, all four high adventure camps with her daughter to earn the Grand Slam Patch, traveling to Kandersteg International Scout Centre for World Scout Scarf Day, and going Back to Gilwell.
