This year the Veterans’ Day Parade will begin at 16th and Atlantic Avenue and proceed to the Tidewater Veteran’s Memorial on 19th Street across from the Virginia Beach Pavilion. Check in and line up is at the 17th St Park on the Ocean side of Atlantic and join the parade when directed at the end of the parade. Scouts will get to see the entire parade and then step off as one of the last units in the lineup. All units are requested to bring their American and unit flags. All American flags will be placed on the front lines of the parade. Scouts and Leaders should be in uniform.
Scouts are invited to remain for the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service.
Register your unit to march in the parade by filling out the lower portion of the registration form and returning it to the Council office on or before Wednesday, November 1, 2017. The total number of people marching in the parade will be reported to the regional parade committee on Thursday, November 2 for their planning purposes. There is no late registration.
Units ordering patches, must have the participation form turned in and patches paid for and receipted on or before Wednesday, November 1, 2017. Patches are $5.00 each. Make checks payable to Tidewater Council BSA and turn in with registration to the Council Service Center. For units paying from their unit account, make sure that the person ordering the patches has the authority to withdraw from the unit account. Patches will be ordered after the parade and be available for pick-up after Christmas.
